Osvaldo Castiglioni | Board Chairman
A story of Italian innovation covering over seventy years of technological development in the plastics industry. Omnia Plastica, founded in 1950 by Pierino Castiglioni in Busto Arsizio, was born from a pioneering vision of the potential of plastics in the future of industry.
Its beginnings, its evolution and vocation for the future in the words of Osvaldo Castiglioni, son of the founder and chairman of the board:
‘In 1950 my father bought a moulding machine and placed it in the dining room. We could not have known then that this would be the beginning of an international company'.
And since then, the company has grown to over 150 employees, establishing itself as a strategic partner of major companies such as Alfa Romeo in the automotive sector.
The 1980s marked a significant turning point with the start of collaboration with Ferrovie dello Stato: ‘Omnia Plastica developed the first traffic light unit made of structurally reinforced technopolymer, replacing the traditional iron casting. A state-of-the-art solution still used today on railway lines.’
Over the years, the company has always stood out for its ability to differentiate and innovate technologically.
"Between the 1970s and 2000, we developed new business sectors: the extrusion of semi-finished products and the anionic polymerisation of caprolactam for the production of Nylon, a process that made Omnia Plastica the only Italian producer in the sector.
A further innovative breakthrough came with the development of the first impregnation and surface hardening plant for polycarbonate parts, which led to the birth of the optical sector specialising in the production of anti-abrasion visors and screens".
In the early 2000s, the company made an important strategic step with the acquisition of the BIEFFE group, incorporating the prestigious BELL brand and the riot shield sector into its portfolio, confirming its ability to evolve and adapt to the challenges of the global market.
"Today Omnia Plastica represents an example of Italian excellence in the plastics sector, continuing to invest in innovation and technology.
With the entry of Luca Maria Castellanza, the current Managing Director of the Group, in addition to the development of the Italian market, the focus on foreign companies and their coordination has also grown, without losing the focus on our Italian identity.
In the future, we will continue to innovate, making technology a tool for growth and quality and keeping implementing truly ethical and sustainable production choices".
